Summertimes theres at least a couple of charter boats operating from the Clam Gulch / Deep Creek area. There's no dock or marina so they launch fully-loaded from trailers right off the beach. Not an enterprise for the average pickup truck, there's a guy with the worlds rustiest logging skidder who hauls them up and down the sand and parks the empty trailers until they get back.

Of course when they get back, the guy driving the trailers around has to be sure to get the right one for the boat, and they all pretty much look alike. In the usual Alaskan low-tech but functional way, the charter captains would hold position off the beach and stick out a sign with a number on it. The guy on the skidder goes and hooks up to whatever trailer the other matching numbered sign is sitting on and comes on down the beach to get the boat.

I do wish they'd haul the halibut carcasses a BIT further offshore before dumping them, though. When I was there last the thing that really stood out was that most of the beach was covered with rotting heads and bones. The other thing that I remember was that a few spots were literally littered with eagle feathers, quite the temptation.
