There are quite a good accounts relating to wolves in the book titled "Alaska's Wolf Man" This book, written by Jim Rearden, relates to Frank Glaser back in 1915-55. It's my favorite book about folks who made it to Alaska long ago and made a living hunting, trapping, and surviving the cold weather in Alaska.

Here is a recent "wolf report"

There was one wolf attack during the time we lived in Two Rivers and it was actually a chained dog that was killed though. I walked the trails every morning but never felt fear then. Apparently things have changed somewhat....

This is from today's paper:

Anchorage has also seen its share of wolf attacks.

Wolves kill 2 dogs in Anchorage-area attacks

This is another reason why it is a good idea to keep dogs on a leash while walking them.

Wow!!!!!!!!!
Wolves can be shot in defense of life or property if they threaten people or domestic animals, Harms noted. She also said that hunting and trapping season for wolves is open as long as you have a hunting or trapping license. It should be noted, however, that it is illegal to shoot a wolf with a .22-caliber rifle because wolves are classified as big game in Alaska.

The real Alaska .

2006 was suppose to be the Chinese Year of the Dog. I guess the Alaskan wolves didn't get the memo.

Wolves blamed in two Eagle River attacks <-- Also demonstrates the uselessness of pepper spray.

State sets up wolf hot line for Two Rivers and North Pole 1-907-459-7308

One more thing, domesticated dogs, no matter how large or feirce, are no match against a pack of hungry wolves.

Why didnt those womens husbands outfit them with a lightweight 45 or 9mm Glock? End of story. Anyone walkin about should be packin 24/7. I can understand if someone went to a University where the socilalist professors taught them that a 'well regulated militia' is the National guard ?
One dog was killed, one was injured and a group of joggers was terrified in two Eagle River wolf attacks that officials believe may have involved the same pack.
