yea, but the sniffles are pretty hard to hear burried like they are.

Well I came across some strange things as I panned a bit when I was young. Still carry the pan in the riverboat. Works well for alternate uses like digging sand and mud, bailing water, emergency skillet... fortunaly I haven't had to use it for much these last few years! It saw some gold years ago up off the Steese hwy, but not enough to get excited about. Just a bunch of us teens out discovering the countryside.

I'm planning a pretty narley Alaskan trip next year to include the Chilkoot trail and driving the Golden Circle. I can't wait!! Oh, and a ferry ride here and there.

There is gold up the Steese, but most of the best areas are claimed. I do know a few miners who let me dig around during the summer. I do a little panning, but enjoy detecting the best. But I will tell you something about up the Steese: when the bugs are out they can make the experience unbearable, specially the gnats.

I went gold panning once. There was a bunch of tourists milling around panning with the dirt the cruise ship people gave them, and me panning with the dirt I found in the creek. Suffice to say they found a lot more gold than I did.
