Default unisea

i was looking into a seasonal production job with unisea.
i have done some research about the company and know a little bit.
i haven't been able to find out much about their dormitory style housing and random stuff like that.
i mean i have a general idea of what a dormitory looks like but as far as bathrooms and general household items and stuff like that im not sure about.
and what about internet access while your there too? (i pay all my bills online)

Note to self: NEVER WORK FOR UNISEA!

But seriously, folks.
Orange, if you were born in 1989 (which I assume from your name), that would make you what, 18? Don't take this the wrong way, but do you really want to put yourself through that? I just say this because I'm fairly young myself and I just can't see myself working for someone that asked so much of me! There's a reason why I didn't join the military, 'ya know... (actually, multiple reasons, but that's neither here nor there, now is it?)
Just my humble two pennies...

it teaches discipline, and i think it would be a wonderful life experience, not just work wise but being in such a different environment from the everyday life that im used to living. besides that theres nothing to lose so why not? thanks for your opinion!

Well, you certainly raise a valid point, what with the discipline and such! It's funny, I never thought of myself as a "wild child", but I guess compared to you I am!
Not to delve too deep into my personal life or anything, but I've been afraid of "discipline" ever since my first year of elementary school: my P.E. teacher was " 'dis " German guy who yelled at us really loud in his thick accent... "Play 'de basketball!" "Give ten of 'de pushups!" etc etc. Perhaps I was traumatised by this...
Hmm...
Well, I think if you want to do it then you should! But I would still recommend trying it out before you sign any contracts.

Best of luck with all your personal old angry German guys...

Yeah, I've always been independent as well. Probably started when my parents pushed me to do crazy stuff, like start college when I was 15.
Sigh.
It's really all about maturity, which I'd like to think I have quite a bit of, although it may not come out in my posts. I'm actually quite an introvert, I'm not at all well spoken in person so mostly I just shut up, but when I write, well! And yes, I'd never be caught dead saying this "lol" you speak of!

So what is this place, some kind of concentration camp?

It really doesn't look anymore military to me than other seasonal things in Alaska.

Xa'at--you know I really like you. A lot. Really. So don't take this wrong, please. Not everything is about you.

Unless this unisea place has a record of treating employees badly or some such, I see no reason why this kid shouldn't give it a chance. It's not indentured servitude or the military.

There are lots of seasonal work opportunities, orange. You might try Coolworks.com. and look around a bit before committing to something.

From its beginning in 1974 in the basement of Dick Pace's Woodinville house, UniSea has grown to include two processing plants and two hotels in Dutch Harbor, a secondary processing plant and cold storage warehouse in Redmond, Wash., a secondary processing plant in Bellingham, Wash., and a crab processing barge anchored in St. Paul in the Pribilof Islands.

UniSea also owns a 25 percent interest in Dutch Harbor Seafoods, which operates the mobile processors Galaxy and Omnisea.

Today, UniSea is a wholly-owned subsidiary of one of Japan's largest fishing companies, Nippon Suisan Kaisha Ltd.

Nippon Suisan (USA) was also established in 1974 as the holding and supervising company for all Nissui group companies in North America.

That includes Unisea, Inc. and Alaska Ocean Seafoods.

Is it a concentration camp? Depends on where you're working.....

If you can't get off the floater, you won't think you're at a kiddies day camp....
