What I do know if that very few people within the department have access to the evidence room or the combination to the safe where cash is kept. The short list of who had access would probably be 4 people at the most.

Yep. And when they say the Chief's resignation wasn't related to this, well, you know what that is, a red herring. He may not have done it but he's up to his eyeballs in tryin' to sweep the dust under the rug.

Yep - anything goes wrong in the Department you are the Chief at and you are at fault. Even if you didn't do it. Failure to supervise, etc.. Sucks, but it is what it is.

FWIW, Average length of time a Police Chief lasts at a Department is 18 months. (US Nationwide)

It is why it is called an average... In order for the average to be 18 months, some people have to be Chief longer than 18 months. My Dad lasted over 30 years before he retired, so he is most likely an outlier.

Where I currently live we go through Chief rotations at our various Police Departments. Seems like they only last 6 months to a year. Yet some do last longer than 18 months...

Maybe the missing cash and drugs went away on a driverless snowmobile.

Thought a little update was in order. We all know that David's son wasn't shot 17 times. However, his other assertions that the FBI was investigating this department turned out to be true.

I was reminded of this yesterday because of the officer involved shooting that took place in Barrow yesterday. It's been decades since I was a cop up there but even then it was a very hard place to be a police officer in. There is a reason that no local native residents will take the job yet they all want police services.
