Soldotna what is the town like? Is it worth buying vacation home for the silver and king salmon fishing?

No. The king salmon fishing/returns have been decimated by greed, politics, unregulated guiding(number of issued licenses) and mismanagement by ADFG. If it ever recovers, it will take decades.

I've had lots of friends live there over the years.
It's beautiful. You have access to shopping and there's a good hospital. The economy is kinda weak right now. Better access to fishing than being in Anchorage.
It's a little more remote than being in Anchorage, Eagle River or the Valley. You've got a three hour drive to Anchorage.

It has a Fred Meyer and several strip malls (if that kind of thing interests you). It's in the woods, so you don't really have any views unless you're up on a hill. There are nice views of Redoubt down certain roads.

Soldotna & Anchorage I plan on having two vacation homes. The reason for Soldotna it's a nice house & for fishing on the river. July or December I can start buying places. I have graduation coming this December 2014. 50 years of before ideas. I have been organizing my web site bob blockus dot com.

Going to have a company office complex in Billingham, Washington. Hire about 120 full time office working staff.
