I've worked near there but have not been in the village. It's not a place just any white man goes into. You don't think your friend is aware of the risk he could get burned for the price of a ticket? Maybe so but it's a lesson he'll have to learn. Could also turn out to be the best thing ever for both of them. Sounds like you might be a little jealous?

Well if they get along your son may very well be welcome in the village with her. But it's not a place he would be just wandering into town and hanging out. Although there are some gravel roads on the west side of the Cook Inlet...you can't drive there from the main road system. You have to fly in. It's less of a risk for her to fly out and meet him than for him to fly in and meet her. Now if she's going to be so rude as to not talk to you...maybe she should not plan on staying at your house if your son still resides there. Or maybe you won't leave her alone and are constantly calling her or e-mailing. I don't know you or the entire story. Let your son go through with it. It'll be a lesson learned good or bad.

Most of the coastal villiges in Alaska have been served my several missionary missions over the last couple hundred years or so. We have had, the Russian Orthadox Church, Jesuits, Catholics, various Christian oraganizations. So some where along the like she was encountered Christian education. What she may actually believe in this day and age is hard to determine. Maybe you should pray on it some more. ![]() Good luck. |

I agree with you Xa'at, I had to search City -Data to find out where Port Graham is! Of course I am offended by the questioning of someones honesty and beliefs without knowing more about them. I wonder if this is more of a control issue. I am guessing you read the OPs other post also.
I know Alaska is the most connected per capita, but am still amazed at times all the little places that have fast internet. |

I guess I'm just wondering what her religious beliefs have to do with the picture? If the OP is unwilling to trust non-Christians, (s)he's going to have a hard time in life, because there's an awful lot of us out there- in fact, the Northwest (including Alaska) has been rated as the least religious area in the country.
Small side note- the only native group I can find that start with the letters "Su-" is Sugpiak, more commonly referred to as Alutiiq, a part of the Yup'ik tribe. |
