Moving to Juneau - HELP (Ketchikan: home, school, living)

Hello All,

I have been offered a position with DOT & PF. I am looking for all the info about the area I can. Housing, both land and Sea, either remote or local, Cost of Living, possiblities of home schooling 6 yr old.

How are the locals to newbies? Working for the state, thoughts? Basically anything I can get. I am looking at moving in April.

I will be traveling thru-out the islands of the SE mainly. Think of taking my wife and 5 yr old, advenvture of a life time we figure plus great career!

Well there is nothing better than having a job in a very scenic place.

That's a much better job than working over at Lemon Creek CC. Housing prices can be a bit stiff but compared to Ketchikan, Juneau is paradise. Working for the State is okay and it will be better once they get the PERS fixed. I'm glad I retired when I did.
