Default Summer '08 sublet/housesitting in Fairbanks

Hey all.

While I'm a Mississippian born and bred, my folks moved up to the Bush many years ago.

I'm currently in pharmacy school, and myself and a classmate have found internships in fairbanks for the summer. I'm excited as I haven't been to Alaska in about 2 years (my folks keep coming down for vacation) and Fairbanks isn't that long a plane/boat journey from my family. My classmate that is accompanying me hasn't done much traveling out of the Southeast and is also quite excited.

While my mom is asking around the teacher network to see if she can find someone heading out for the summer that needs a housesitter, I thought I'd jump on here and see if anyone had any recommendations for finding a house to sit or summer sublets for two graduate/professional students. We're both girls and wouldn't mind a one bedroom place. We're both a little iffy on living in a dry place; and I won't deny that I'm spoiled in that aspect.

I know that finding a place to sleep in the summer can be pricey, and that if absolutely necessary, as interns we qualify for summer housing at UAF. I was also contemplating posting on craigslist and putting an ad in the Miner.

Any suggestions on going about a search or the likelihood of us finding a place would be much appreciated.

Sounds like between Craigslist and the Miner, you should be well covered. Try posting months in advance and you should be fine. If you wait until the last minute, you might be out of luck. You will love Fairbanks in the summer. Temperatures will be generally in the 70s and up to the 80s. Have fun!
