I keep reading here about the "slope". What is it?

The North slope is the Northern most coast of Alaska. North of the Brooks Mountain range, including it's north slope. If you google the Arctic Slope Brorough, that will give you an approximation. the slope streaches from the Canadian border to the Berring straight near Wainwright and Point Hope.

Skis are what go on the bottom of airplanes in the winter. Airplanes like it flat not sloped.
