Not only is my skin thick it's frozen as well. I still have people call me and ask how they can get one of those pipeline jobs. I guess I'll keep my tips on the finer dining and drinking establishments to myself. But if you already knew the answer why did you ask??

I apologize for my somewhat rude comeback to you stiffneck, I just did not appreciate your response because no offense but you have no idea the other forms of research I have done. But that is also my fault, i never said I had contacted anyone etc. So I apologize. I do thank everyone for their help and very much appreciate it and take everything into consideration.

Alaska is bigger and we have more oil than you, so there.
Sounds like you're main interest in teaching in Alaska is for the money anyway. |

I liked Nome just because it was Nome. I met the Mayor of St. Michael just about every other day in front of the Glue Pot. He always said "I'm Ambrose the Mayor of St.Michael
if you'll buy me Oly I'll be your friend." Well, I never did buy him an Oly but since he was always sitting on the bench in front of the Glue Pot it only seemed appropriate to buy him lunch. It was either a bowl of chili or a cheeseburger. Must have bought him about 30 lunches. I was born in Texas. Raised in Oklahoma and moved to Alaska once I realized life had a lot more to offer than sweat in the summer. |

Doesn't just about every Alaska city, town or village have a Glue Pot? When we lived in Barrow it was Sam & Lee's right next door to the police station.

Check out the Alaska Teacher Placement website alaskateacher.org/jobs/ . You can post your resumes, link your pages so that you become a "teaching team" that would be hired by a district together. If you call and speak with Alaska Teacher Placement they can help advise you about any government programs that might benefit you.
Good Luck! ![]() |

And without any question at all, Sam & Lee's has far and away the best food, and the lowest prices, of any restaurant in Barrow. (And for anyone visiting Barrow, bring your laptop to Sam & Lee's and ask about how to use the WIFI. They won't know... but it is in fact the only restaurant in Barrow with wireless available. They'll call me and I'll give you the password to use the repeater that I have sitting next to the TV upstairs!) |
