We are looking at buying a place in the mentioned lake areas (West Wasilla/Houston). Can anyone tell me anything about the area?
Any fish in the lakes? Ice fishing in the winter? Any stores/gas stations close by? stuff like that....

So this is the area: http://goo.gl/maps/Ojb3I
You are not far from Houston, which has as tiny convenience store with good ice cream, Miller's Market.
Your near gas station would be here: http://goo.gl/maps/vtfI7 There's also a Three Bears there: Three Bears -

There's a facebook group that discuss thefts and crime in the Valley, and there's seems to be a fair amount of talk of stuff getting stolen in that area. So just be careful about keeping stuff locked up. https://www.facebook.com/groups/165397870311443/

Not sure if there are fish in those two lakes, but there are plenty of other lakes close by with fish.

Haven't done any fishing yet, but looking forward to it. I hear Lake Nancy has plenty of Norther Pike in it! I grew up fishing for Pike in SD, haven't fished for them since I left in the 80's. Looking forward to catching some, fun fish to real in.
