Instead of hijacking the Teachers thread how about posting pics and reviews of your favorite Alaskan greasy spoons. No stars needed.
I was a police officer in Barrow in the mid-80's. Sam and Lee's was a favorite hang out of the late night crowd. We rousted a few folks out of there that feel asleep while drinking their coffee...
I got seriously sick because of Sam and Lee's this past year. Try being out at a remote village after getting food poisoning from this place!!! NOT my favorite at all
During my years in Barrow I never ate at Sam&Lee's. It just looked nasty. We did dine at PEPE's two or three times. I guess everyone has to do that. Tried Arctic Pizza once but $50 for a large pepperoni was just a little much...
If you want to see an Arctic Pizza you'll have to travel to Barrow. That's the name of the resturant. The food is great. But so is the price. They added a second story to the resturant so while your eating your pizza you can look out over the arcitc ocean.
Come on, I can't believe no one's mentioned the White Spot Cafe in Anchorage. That is KING of greasy spoons, not just in Alaska, in the entire U.S.
(And it's yummy, too.)
