Hi all,
I did a search and it seemed like most of the results trailed off onto a different subject. We are moving into our home around the 21st. One of the things we will need is internet, I don't plan on getting cable or home phone, so all we will need is internet. My realtor gave me a list of possible options:

GCI, ACS, Dish Network, Directv and MTA. I am guessing a couple of these are tv only, but don't know. We use the internet for Roku, HULU and such as well as web search. We don't mess with games, but do watch movies on line. We currently have Frontier DSL with 7 Megs......I think which works good at 39 a month, here in Washington. I'm trying to find something similar, any recommendations? My girlfriend does attend online college, so we will need something halfway decent.

Thanks.

ACS is only in Anchorage.
Be prepared to pay a lot for what you get. MTA & GCI are your only options, other than Satellite. And MTA & GCI availability might be limited based on the location of your house.
Microcom is a good source to talk to satellite: HughesNet, Starband, Exede in Anchorage, Alaska
With MTA,you'll have to get a home phone too.: https://www.mtasolutions.com/internet/service/packages

Unless you have a 3 meter dish, you are only going to be able pick up one satellite from Dish Network, and you certainly do not want to be accessing the internet via satellite.

So don't use a dish for internet in the Wasilla area, thanks. That eliminates some companies.

As AKStafford pointed out, you really only have two choices within the city limits of Wasilla - MTA and GCI. Outside of Wasilla's city limits and there is only one choice - MTA.

High prices and note that they are not unlimited data usage per month.

You will need to see just how much data you use with HULU and Netflix. You may end up cutting back on the HD streaming.

Very true.

I download a lot of movies and documentaries, and the MTA 5M/768K download/upload plan with 70 rolling GB works for me. It runs $70/month.
