You'll also be paying more for goods that get shipped in or transported by trucks...etc..it affects everything. Sure PDF might go up but you'll be spending it on increased costs because of oil increase.

The dividend for any year is based on the average Permanent Fund appreciation over the last previous five years. While the price of oil will certainly affect the fund, there is no immediately direct connection.
As previous posters have written, any increase will be eaten up by higher costs for food and fuel. As of last fall, it cost over $1,500 to fill mine 500 gallon tank. Of course, the inflation of these days is getting worse, and may indeed become horrifying. In such case, I'd suggest a wood stove - for those who can find wood to burn. Not so much wood past the treeline, and the driftwood we find hereabouts has so much salt that it corrodes the stove pipes. Essentially, IMO we are all - everybody in the USA - stiffed. I feel that things will become much worse before they improve, and any increase in the PFD will be illusory. It's all a matter of buying power of the dollar, and that weakens by the day, as we all can see. |
