I have 7th Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and LDS knocking on my door. I don't proselytize for the Catholic church, and ask that others respect my personal wishes. I have my beliefs and they have theirs. I don't ask that my Jewish friends take up my banner, and as I only deal with one Muslim on an occasional basis, have not and will not ask him to convert. Religion should be a private and personal relationship with the Deity in whatever name you call Him (Her for any Wiccans out there). I have raised my children as Catholics, telling them that their relationship with my God may change throughout their life, but that I would be proud of them in whatever form their worship took.
I can control children, adults are beyond my wishes to change. I may have set the mold in which they were formed, but children are like water - they can change after the mold is removed.

And kudos to you too mal_flisk...That is as it should be. I was raised with a live and let live attitude and to RESPECT other's religious choices. It IS a personal matter and I resent and am immediately suspect of someone who claims that his way is THE way, the right way, the only way, or that the way I or anyone else for that matter is doing "it" the wrong way. I find that, more often than not, those who proselytize make erroneous and arrogant assumptions and have a very shallow understanding of their own faith, let alone anyone else's. Man....apparently this is my hot spot... Okay...let's talk about something else...HOw about snow???? Enjoy the snow for me, guys.

Snow?, yeah, we actually got some earlier this week, looked more like the clouds had dandruff, snowed for almost an hour, was some on the ground even, schools were closed the next day and started 2 hours late the day after. Odds are against us getting more this winter. Tonight, it is supposed to be below freezing!!!!! I tell ya, it's an ice age comin' This time of year, in N.C. there is but one topic of conversation, if you do not follow college hoops, you really have noone to talk to. Am a Carolina fan myself, have been since the early 70's. ( Down here, this enough to get an argument started, well maybe not an argument, but, definitely a difference of opinion) When is Rance gonna be back from Sweden?

heya ya metlaK, LOL--- They just dont want you to burn in hell for eternity! LOL
One time I read that religion is ;''' mans attempt to reach god ''' which anyone with half an iq knows is futile.
I think all can agree that humans run a muck are the most destructive entities on the face of the earth.
Id have to go with "" Jesus is gods attempt to reach mankind.""...
Its a tough calll... do the best ya can , try to find your spirit hidden behind all the emotion, thoughts , amd desires--- its mankinds highest duty actually.

LOL, MM...
What people like the original poster obviously don't understand is that their particular interpretation of religion, Jesus, et al, is NOT the last word.
And I think that the memory and the legacy of Jesus himself is cheapened by those such as the OP who thump bibles on message boards.

I don't mind bible thumping as long as it's done in the proper setting - church, your own home, etc. How would they take it if someone knocked on their door and set out to say they were wrong in their own form of worship? Charity would say that they would take it in stride as I do. But I prefer not to be confrontational in an encounter with the righteous (self and otherwise). I also don't have the gall to knock on my neighbors' doors and ask if they would like to know the best way to worship.

Oh, the vomit-prompting sessions don't always come in the form of the preverbial knock on the door. Oh if only it were that easy to slam the door. Sometimes it happens when you're sitting in the pews. I was listening once to this "Christian Missionary" who didn't look older than 15 and who had just returned from the Philippines. I remember him saying "85% of the Filipino people don't have an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ." I wanted to puke. 1) What justifies this arbitrary percentage? 2) Who decides what is "authentic?" By whose standards? I was stationed in two different areas of the Philippines in the military. Did this kid LIVE there or did he just take some little high school trip or three month retreat? I heard more of this tripe when one little, bright-eyed college student from Rice University was speaking and made some comment about the Protestant/Catholic tensions in Ireland and how she felt she could make a difference, failing to realize that this wasn't simply about religion---those labels are attached to political affiliations, identity...everything. I just get so tired of ignorant people broadcasting the fact that they are ignorant! Bring on the snow already!!
