Hi all, I'm looking for some information regarding moving and living in Cordova. Husband may be offered a job there and so far he's loving it there (he went there for his interview). We currently live ~20mi from Anchorage. I work from home and care for our toddler. How's the internet service there? I know there's not much shopping choices and also heard that the prices are higher since everything there has to be shipped in. Any detail info you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I have been in Cordova over a year now and can tell you that the internet is definitely something I had to get used to! I use Cordova Telephone (CTC) and once we got it working, I have not had any problems at home at all. What was different for me was the idea of a limited amount of usage. I am not sure if you do that in Anchorage, but you do here.

Prices are definitely higher here than in Anchorage. A good bit higher. Most people go to Anchorage to make a Costco/Sam's run several times a year. We do have some nice local shops, but prices are high. There is not much to do here so just be ready for that

Cordova is a pretty neat town, I lived there about two years for work in the 70's. Go back there a lot over the years and it's a hidden Jewell!

Cordova is beautiful with perfect "Alaskan" experiences minutes down (or "out) the road as locals say. Lived and worked there for a few years, couldn't take the toxic self destructive local politics after a while and left. Moderately expensive. Easy enough to get into town/Anchorage and points beyond compared to other remote/off the road system places we lived in Alaska. We miss it. Mostly good people.
