I wonder if Cursing ever realized his Alaskan ambition? I was just thinking of this thread after reading some of today's posts - it was one of my favorites here.

Thanks for bringing it back to life I needed some good reading and wasn't on here when it was posted. I think we would have seen it in the papers if he had tried.

Raising some game animals can be a commercially viable way to increase stocks of that animal. It worked with bison and ostriches, which aren't as majestic as moose but certainly tasty.
Myself on the other hand would be doing the sensible thing and not get near them, pictures on the computer screen are good enough for me. I'll leave the honorable mentions in the Darwin awards to some one else!

You still have to start with normal sized breeding stock. And there are an awful lot of 'miniature' critters that have all the attitude of the standard size. It takes a lot of generations of selective breeding to change or enhance temperament characteristics, not to mention potential health issues involved in downsizing any creature. A degree in genetics would also be helpful.

I have never picked up a lasso in my life. My spurs don't jingle jangle jingle.

Oh man, don't even joke. Amongst a mini-moose & a mini-elephant, other creatures that I yearn for as a pet include: prairie dogs, mini-dragons (as seen in Harry Potter), meerkats, squirrels, hedgehogs & the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
