Hey ya'll,
I'll keep it short and sweet - Family of 5 from Texas has been to almost every state except for Alaska. We are looking to spend $2000 each (just a guess) for this trip and would like for someone to give us an idea on the best way to spend this money for seeing Alaska. The ages are: mid 50s (parents), mid and low 20s for the "kids". I had a neighbor that did the Princess cruise and she loved it. She had been to Hawaii, France, etc and nothing was better than the Alaskan cruise (according to her). However, she's what...80 years old? So, personally, I don't want to be standing on a big boat the entire trip. The ideal situation would be something like half cruise, half train, if possible. Does anyone have any tips and advice on the best way to spend this money and do a vacation we'll never forget? Our dates are around June 13 and for about a week. We'd fly into Seattle and take the ship, I guess. Nothing set in stone yet. Thanks for any leads... P.S> Looking forward to eating some great salmon! |

So the best thing to do? Send me the money, .......I'll provide you with the best virtual tour money can buy. Included will be video and still pictures of every attraction from one end of the state to the other. Also included, are pre-cancelled picture postcards to send to the boss, and your co-workers, (....and/or those members of the family you aren't taking along.) You'll each get a souvenir T-shirt and baseball cap. I'll even throw in a couple of cans of salmon so you won't even miss out on eating some good salmon. .... Let me know soon though, ...inventory is limited, and I'm right in the middle of the usual peak for pre-season reservations, ......and prices go up after March 1. . .. |

I'd fly in, rent RV, and make one big circle up to Denali, Fairbanks, south all the way to Homer and back to Anchorage. You can stop and do some guided fishing on the Kenai River or some of those farther north. 1 week? Bummer.

One way I would recommend is hop on the ferry in Bellingham and get off in Haines and rent a car. Then drive to Anchorage.

Well, one week is not final...could stretch it out longer if need be. It sounds like an RV is the way to go.

Moose roping, moose milking, moose riding...all I can say is that I hope we can see the video on that "Americas funniest injuries caught on tape" show.
I've often thought that it might be secretly sponsored by orthopedic surgeons. ![]() |

I with the fly in and rent an RV you can try and see as much as possible but like they say you won't see much of it in a weeks time, but you will need to think about your route and go for it, you should be able to see enough to entice you to return for a longer period of time
