I am looking for some gravel for my drive way. I have been to a gravel pit just a couple miles away, but there are no signs and it looks like someone has dumped some stuff there. It is just off 3 Bee's Rd (according to Google maps) by a small river/stream. It looks like someone has worked it in the summer time, a nice clean pile of gravel is in the middle of the pit. I asked the City of Houston who it belongs to, they said it is an illegal gravel pit, at least Houston doesn't get any business tax from it. The only other gravel pits, I could find in the area, I would have to drive a ways.

or if you know of any other place in the area, let me know. I'm in the SE Houston area.

Thanks in advance.

Next time you see it in operation, show up with your Truck and a few $'s

Odds are you will drive out with a truck load of gravel....

You might try joining the MatSu Who To Use facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/873307079347112/
I'll bet you someone on there know.
Oh, and to see who owns what parcels, you can use the MatSu Borough's page. Just zoom in until you can see the lot lines, then click on the lot to see ownership info. http://maps.matsugov.us/webmaps/

Even if that specific pit is no longer in operation or you can't find the owners, there are probably lots of other gravel pits nearby. Gravel is cheap up here and I've never found gravel as cheap as it is here in Alaska. At least something's affordable around here . I just bought 24 yards for my new property of d-3 gravel for 12$ a yard + truck time. Good luck.

Dang that is cheap 6.7...

I am assuming that the OP doesn't want to come down to Anchorage as there is a large commercial gravel pit in South Anchorage....

I just talked to a guy who advertised on CL and he quoted me 200 for 10 yards of gravel plus transportation/delivery fees. didn't sound cheap to me. I'll look around some more, thanks

That is a little too far to drive or have delivered, thanks though

$200 for 10 yards delivered doesn't too sound bad. Especially if it's d-1 gravel. Mine was pit run just dumped through a 3 inch screen but good enough for what I needed. My $12 a yard price also included $120 an hour worth of truck time. I was about 30 minutes from gravel pit so 12x12=144 + 120 truck time for $260 for a 12 yard dump truck load. This was in Delta Junction.

The guy who owns Mt. view RV park (Shane smith? I believe) in Palmer also has gravel/excavation company. Maybe give him a call. He quoted me a good price when I was interested in that area. I imagine there are quite a few people who deliver gravel in that area so good idea to call around.

I almost want to order some more gravel just so I have another excuse to rent a bobcat or Dozer for the weekend .

Thanks.
Yes, I'm thinking about getting a bob cat too, just for a day. The ground slopes towards the house in the back, need to get it sloping away from the house. I just bought this place back in Oct, so have a bunch of stuff to do to it. until the money runs out!

Another resource: the Yellow Pages from the MTA Directory: Wasilla, AK

And as mentioned on Facebook: right now with weight restrictions the trucks can't haul as much per load, which means more loads. Give it a few more weeks for everything to dry out and the weight restrictions to be lifted.
