I don't think I've ever had blood oranges.

I've never heard of them. Can I get 'em at Freddies?

I'm supposed to be writing a paper about the potential for economic and environment devastation by the pebble mine, as well as the physiological effects of cyanidation on salmon and trout. Where's user 2 when I need him?

They *are* really good - tasty & juicy. Most places here carry them now, but I had my first ones years ago studying in Italy. I remember them being *so* juicy and sweet that I decided to bring two of them home to share with my family...

... but when I got back through customs, they were having *everyone* open their suitcases, and at that point of life, I was afraid I'd get in trouble for bringing them over, so one-by-one as my tour group went through, they stood in front of me so I could reach out and find my way through my bags to remove them.

... and once I left (I was the last person to go through customs), there they were... two very scrumpious, ROTF, juicy sweet blood oranges. I always wondered what happened to those two... HA!

Hey Xa'at,

You can try Freddies. I"ve seen them at the -48 Freds once. I usually get them at Trader Joes.

It's just not the same without User2. He's good at cleaning the scum out of the pool, if you know what I mean.

I got it here, Karla:

KQED Food Blog: Bay Area Bites: Clyde Common Restaurant. Ace Hotel, Portland

I also stayed at the Ace Hotel when I was there.

When you come to visit this summer I will see if I can recreate the recipe.

That works for me---with plenty of wild salmon and blueberries too.

Those of you who miss User2 are more than welcome to join us elsewhere by the way.

Met I don't know how good the original recipe was but I'm certain that you can make it into a spectacular creation.
