But the self impressed and self professed experts on this state have been crawling out from under their bridges in record numbers these days. Honestly, it's such a crashing bore. |

They are called snowmachines. Housing prices in Ketchikan have been skyhigh for years.
Alaska doesn't have to worry about an influx of lower 48's. Like I said by the middle of their first winter they can't wait to catch the first ferry going south. Who was that masked man that rode in on his white horse to tell us how it is???? |

Having stumbled upon this thread and getting tangled in the garrote of homily taking place, I must say it has been amusing to say the least.
While certainly not an adequate comparison to folks moving to Alaska seeking the expectation and finding stark reality instead. We have a similar situation occurring here in Tennessee with folks moving from Florida. Many are from the Northeast that have moved to Florida and found that asphalt has a liquid state during the 10 month summer. Needless to say, in living there it didn't live up to their expectations so they then move half way back. In fact we call them halfbacks. Now we have folks who have moved from the north to the farthest south and then into rural Appalachia where even the grass grows slow. We would not have it any other way. Again, more often than not, folks find that the paradise they sought was not found in where they moved. I suspect this phenomenon of seeking greener pastures is what has led to where we are today but I have to wonder. Is it that expectations are a premeditated disappointment in the sense that if you can't find happiness within you will never find it in a place as no place will ever measure to ones imagination? Anywho, its late, I'm beat, and the hound has something treed.... ugh. ps. I prefer Ubuntu myself
