You know, when I go on trips I always panic because something always gets left behind. It's usually a book or cell phone charger. What I've taken to doing is making a little list of things I absolutely need (like medicines, cell phone, camera, wallet) etc and not walking out the door without doing one last check. This doesn't prevent something from getting left behind, but at least it means that the thing that did get left behind isn't crucial.

hehe...it did take me a moment to ken your meaning...

I may purchase those when I arrive...I'll leave my brogues here - my suitcase is near to bursting. But thank you, warpt, for thinking of my feet

Just 3 more hours.

Now there's a show on Discovery called "The Alaska Experiment". Teams of people get dropped into Alaska & they have to find their remote cabin & survive for I think 3 months. I was like, cool it's like those PBS documentaries, I would totally want to do that. My friend was horrified

Agreed-I wanted to do those other experiments on PBS like the Colonial House, there was one where they were homesteaders in MT, Victorian House, etc. I figure I'd at least get in shape doing the Alaska or homesteader one

Those PBS series were pretty cool. It was interesting to see how they dealt with issues we have today that would've been solved by other means then.

See I was watching that last night and those people annoyed me. They NEED Alaska to slap them around a bit ---especially those knuckleheads who were fighting over how to place hiking boots in the cabin...you know, the overweight chicks and the dad. Cabin fever my a$$. What? They were in close quarters for like one day? GIve me a break. What are they going to do once winter comes along and the days are short? A few trips to the outhouse or nearby bushes ought to get rid of some of that cockiness going on.....if they could only stop hogging the peanut butter and potato rations!!! And as for the couple in the white, canvas tent, why would you blow a bear whistle at a bear who was yards away and minding his own business, totally oblivious to you? I would have just let him carry on but they blew that whistle, not once (because he didn't hear it the first time) but again, which only made him curious and get up on his hindquarters to check out the new eating dive. And those other idiots throwing makeshift spears at fish? Hello? The stream is shallow...catch them with your damned hands like that one dude did. 5 hours of makeshift fishing and nothing to show for it. Yeah....it's gonna be a long 12 weeks for those people. Hopefully the learning curve will improve out of necessity, I am afraid. It's entertaining......if I've had some wine first!!!!

I watched it, too. I can't stand the dad and daughters team. Makes you want a bear to visit their whiny a$$es.
