Unfortunately, no. The owners chose the other offer. We did look at two other homes there - one would have required a huge financial undertaking to get it into an efficient state. The other was perfect, until we noticed some trouble with the structure of the home and the cost of that coupled with the $4/gallon cost of heating oil - and 1500 gallons at that - just wasn't feasible at this point in time.

Our home is not far from the Little Su River, it is outside of town (Wasilla), plenty of land - so it has most of everything we wanted. I would prefer Willow - I fell in love with the area - but there weren't many homes in our price range at this time. We can always move later

I agree with you about Willow, but you won't be far from it. When do you go up to live?

Our one-way tickets are for the 5th of June. We have possession of the home on the 22nd of May, but school doesn't end here until the 29th...else I would have preferred sooner. As it was, it was very difficult to return to Wyoming after spending a week in Alaska....and a small part of Alaska at that.

You'll be getting up there at a good time, though. I'm looking forward to your photographs when you do. I hope you get a chance to drive on up to Talkeetna and go to the Roadhouse for some blackberry pie. It's only an hour or so away, and worth it.

Oh that sounds delightful. I have some images I shot when I had a moment to do so...just have to get the uploaded here. It seems when we got the home, everything else is snowballing and we are extremely busy. Fortunately, though, the movers have to contend with packing us up...it will be a novelty for me as I have never had such a resource before - always have done it myself. We did drive through Talkeetna as we were looking about for homes - one of the homes we looked at was betwixt Talkeetna and Willow. I will definitely look out for the Roadhouse next time - thank you!

The more that I learn about Alaska, the more I'm encouraged to move there with my family. I just finished watching a special about Alaska and WWII. Castner's Cuthroats were amazing heros. Did anyone else see this special on the History Channel?

I back safe and sound from riding in the mountains around Lost Lake. Awesome day. I'll have some pics later tonight.

susitna-flower is on a distinguished road
Default Hi, all susitna-flower here.

Hi, I'd like to introduce myself, susitna-flower, and I live in Trapper Creek! For everyone 'outside', that is north of Willow, and across the Susitna River from Talkeetna. The mile post is 114.5 of the Parks highway and I am going to attach a picture of 'the mountain' that you see from this town.

It's a good place to live. My son jumps on his snowmachine and rides right out to the foothills of Denali! We live on a homestead and have since 1959.

Trapper Creek has all the normal conveniences, 3 small stores, 2 gas stations, a library, three churches, a post office and elementary school.

My husband and I have a general construction company, and have raised all three of our children here.

Hey Lisaagogo, I just watched that WWII an hour ago. Those Castner's Cutthroats were something, weren't they! Sorry, just had to put my two cents in!
