Yes, it's Skagua.

Caribou = watsíx
...but note that caribou are not (usually) found in Southeast Alaska. I say usually because, heck, weirder things have turned up. (penguins, for example)

What? Penguins? I saw a mountian lion twice (or two different ones) on the peninsula about 15 years ago, and I saw a fan tailed eagle up here in Kuparuk (also about 15 years ago). Those are a couple weird things to see...but where in the heck did penguins come from?

It was someone's pet that got loose, if I recall correctly. Took quite a bit of detective work to figure it out, though. They just found this penguin swimmin' around and were like, "WTF?!"

A couple years ago a penguin ended up on a fishing vessel outside of Sitka.

Say, I was wondering, do any big name bands ever come up there for concerts? I don't think I ever really see AK as one of the show dates for a lot of bands.

Elton John was here and is doing another show in Anchorage. At the sullivan arena I've seen Eddie Money, 38 special, Aldo Nova, Reo Speedwagon, Willie Nelson, Sammy Hagar, Ted Nugent and I saw Cheap Trick at the Palmer Raceway.
I wrote to Marty Stewart a couple times to see if they would come up...but they never responded. There have been other bands as well but I'm not into rap or some of those metal head bands.

Xa'at,

It is possible that Caribou were in Southeast Alaska back in the 1860's however. I will have to research that in order to be historically accurate in my book. Thank you!

I see you're into '70's rock, right on! I call that my "up north" music, my personal favorite is "Slow Ride". Oh yeah, Rance I got a yellow box now, a personal warning from the moderator on the politics forum. Apparently me calling someone an idiot was considered a personal attack.....I've seen much much worse than that & no yellow boxes, what the heck? Anywho, I've never heard of Marty Stewart. Has anyone like Foo Fighters, Gwen Stefani, etc. been up there? I'm excited, Foo Fighters are coming here to Milwaukee in August for Harley-Davidson's 105th anniversary....it should be a rockin' time.
