Now
Through 1026 PM..thunderstorms continue to fire along the Kuskokwim and Kilbuck ranges. A couple of heavy thunderstorms are located about 35 miles east-southeast of Bethel and another about 50 miles east of Bethel. These storms are moving southwest at around 30 mph and will be approaching Quinhagak and Platinum over the next 2 hours. Expect brief heavy downpours dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning and small hail in vicinity of these storms. Other showers and thunderstorms continue to fire over the extreme northern portions of the Delta. These storms should be approaching the Bethel area between 600 PM ADT and 700 PM ADT.

... Bethel feels the heat...

Bethel set a new daily high temperature record today of 85 degrees
around 645 PM akdt. The previous record daily high temperature of 78
degrees set in 1949 was initially tied at 302 PM... and broken just 9
minutes later... as considerable sunshine blazed over the area. Some
thunderstorms moved through the area around 7 PM akdt... bringing
gusty winds and caused the temperature to drop 18 degrees by 730 PM.

I was reading an article on global warming. It was mentioning that the north pole was going to be clear of ice this year & that it had done so at other times in the past. It also said that there is always a balance between the poles. So while the ice may be thin in the arctic it is thickening in the antarctic.
