I believe I can honestly say I've never had a martini. I am waiting for Met to visit and brew up her concoctions!
My beloved offspring decided we should watch August Rush tonight. I haven't seen it since it was in the theatres...and like then, I sobbed and sobbed. It's my favourite movie, but I weep myself daft with it.

You've never had a martini? Dear God in heaven. That must be remedied ASAP.

I've never had a martini either. I don't drink, that might have something to do with it. I don't even know what goes in a martini.

I imbibe now and again...cannot remember the last time I had anything - but I do not know what goes in one either.

Martini's are either gin or vodka.

You take a martini glass, throw ice cubes in it and then fill it will cold water. Set aside.

Then, as the glass chills, you take an ice-filled shaker and fill it with the proper amount of a high quality gin or vodka, Beefeaters and Grey Goose will do for example's sake.

Now, in the shaker, after adding a good deal of ice, you can make the martini "dirty" by adding olive juice to the mix. After determining the level of "dirtininess", you shake this mixture vigorously for 10-20 seconds.

You then dump out the chilled water from the martini glass. I then add a small amount of vermouth, just a bit poured into the glass, swished around, and then dumped. Or, for a less "dry" martini, you add slightly more vermouth and don't dump it out.

You then poured the strained mixture from the shaker into the martini glass and garnish it with the requested amount of olives.

Now, I've spent about 8 years of my life bartending, and this is my personal recipe. With anything like this, there are a multitude of variations. But, I've never had any complaints.

"whiskey's too rough champagne costs too much and vodka puts my mouth in gear...This little refrain should help me explain as a matter of fact I like beer

So, I don't think I get you. What do you like to drink?

That was a song by Tom T Hall. "I like Beer." I like Pepsi and on some occasions I splurge and get a Coke. On the wild moments a Mt. Dew. Water works most of the time, too. Oh yea, can't beat frozen Tang!
