Thanks for the info, hopefully you'll relate more to me as details become available. :c) BTW...Do they sell sheet metal on Craigslist?
Only the first batch is very large. They get smaller as summer progresses. Kenai being on the water won't be so bad unless your out in the woods and not much of a breeze.
It is 33 below in my yard right now! In the sun. Kenai will be slightly warmer by maybe 10 or 20 degrees.
You can find anything on Craigslist! I'd imagine leftover or used sheetmetal is out there somewhere in the state.

Yes they are in soil! And no I can't bring myself to pull them out of the dirt! If they are still alive next month I'll transplant into a large pot for the summer outdoors maybe.

lol rance
I didn't say pull them out, just give them a very gentle tug and if you feel any resistance it means roots
but it is also ok if you do nothing

how big is the pots the cuttings are in ?
this will determine if they need to be repotted next month

I'd say a 10" by 10" deep pot. Should I have them in the window getting sun? Or back on the kitchen table with mostly shade?

if they are in 10" pots it sounds like 1 gals you can leave them in the pots till summer

you can give them a few hours of sun from the window every day

also once it warms up you will need to "harden them off" which means get them use to outside , so you can put them outside for a few hours a day int he shade then slowly move them to full sun
after a couple weeks then you can plant them in the ground

also keep an eye on them if they are putting out tons of leaves you might want to pinch off a few so the plant doesn't use all of its energy making leaves instead of roots

Karla with a K,

You said: "also once it warms up you will need to "harden them off" which means get them use to outside , so you can put them outside for a few hours a day int he shade then slowly move them to full sun

First of all, I didn't realize that jasmine grew in Sweden...hmmm (scratching head)
I realize the jasmine can be planted outside, but would you have to dig it back up at the end of summer, or would conditions there permit it to remain an outside plant, forever and always, if one would so choose? I'm gathering that you would be the "person in the know" regarding horticulture in the Great White Wilderness? That aspect was something I neglected to ask Rance. Would you mind enlightening me, please?

My Father used to raise roses. He'd have the hardier varieties planted in the ground & the ones that couldn't tolerate the cold were potted & put in the basement every winter under lights. We lived in Marblehead, MA at the time. Maybe its the same with Rance's jasmine.

echobluff...have a look here...
Jasmine; suggestions

These have been in her yard for around 40 years. Outside! And she lives on the same latitude as Kodiak, AK. So I'm hoping I can get them to grow in front of the house or something eventually. The scent of the flowers is heavenly for this type of Jasmine.

Default Karla with a K

Upon further examination of your response to Rance, I saw that you're from NE Florida. I should have looked a little closer, I guess. You sounded pretty knowledgeable, thus my assumption that you knew about growing conditions/length of growing season in AK. Also, I wasn't trying to be a smart*ss when I referred to the GWW, in case I was misunderstood...

Karla is a landscaper in her spare time! She seems very knowledgeable in the fine art of growing things. At least her advice to me got some leaves growing. Last year I brought some of the same home and nothing grew. I may have to send her a cutting!
