ok, thanks! So I found a lot treads, I've info for weeks, why I'm really happy. Can you write about how important the networking before you have the journey?I mean can I find good rent just alone and how hard can be the first some weeks. What was your main problems? How much is the rent, I mean with all the details(energy bills and heating bills, so on.).Basicly this is my first step to get information.I would be happy for the personal opinion and some help - web pages about Alaska life, Alaska law, working permissions to an eastern europion, and what shall I listen before the moving.

The downside of 100-400L lens is that it is slow. I surmise that in the often not-very-bright Alaskan conditions it may not be the best option. The 70-200 mm f/2.8 L IS wiill be more suitable. But then again, it is heavier. So, trade-offs.

Which Canon dSLR? A 1.6x or full-frame? At any rate, I suggest you wait for a week or so. Next week Canon is expected to announce an upgrade to its venerable EOS 5D and most likely, a slew of new lenses.

yeah, i have to look further about this, but I don't think I want to change my nationality, so I don't think a will have to talk to the scary scary immigration people.:-) I just want to live and work there for a while. Because I live in London now, I don't want to be British...But if I'll find a wife..that is an other story...How I now every country gives the permission to only work there.Yeah I have to get every info about this, but the immigration office would be my last wish.A lot time...If I can't work there, then I will just go to look around.I don't have bad life in europe...But one thing is sure, Alaska is a special point of the world and I want to go there. :-)

Welcome, both my kids went to UAF and they really enjoyed it.

Lots of neat stuff going on in both the winter and summer months.

I'm shipping out tomorrow night. There is an engineering company in town that wants to meet me, hopefully for a job.

Can anyone tell me how accessible the town is by bike/bus. Its going to be a week or 2 before i rent a place and then a little longer before I buy a vehicle. I have a couple cars back home some one is selling for me. (wish i had one up there)
