If someone came up to me with a gun and said "you have to leave Juneau", I'd probably go to Homer. Not that I sit around expecting that sort of thing, but you know...
I'd like to see that little town, Halibut Cove I think? The one with 35 people and no roads...

It's actually above freezing today! And raining of course...
I can go back to traditional Xa'at garb: denim skirt, striped stockings, and tee shirt! Huzzah...

Actually above 0 here, suspect I will see lots of white legs in shorts and tee shirts at the store.

Kicks Arctic for being warmer than Bethel. It is minus 16 here and winds are 15mph from the north, sick of the wind.

Who needs a trail?

I hate snowmachine 'trails', they're always track rutted and 'wash-boarded' out.

Since it's been so cold all the rivers and streams are froze. So we can bop all over the central peninsula now. Darn near everything is connected to something or another via lake, river or stream. You can go for miles and miles.

How far can a snow machine actually go before it runs out of fuel? Do you bring spare gas with you, Rance?

I know we can go about three or four hours on a tank of gas. We dont measure MPGs. Just ride and watch the gas gauge
