I made the estimated 50 miles on 3/4 of a tank. Riding a 94 fan cooled 488 Polaris Indy Trail. My 94 SLT Indy with the triple does much worse for mileage.

I was just on the Polaris website, how do you decide which model to get?

It depends on what you want to do with it. A liquid cooled sled for speed or deep powder riding, you'd also want a long track. If you're going to just be a Sunday driver you'd get a air-cooled sled for touring the trails wherever you're riding at. A utility model if you plan on hauling anything into camps that is geared for pulling. You have a wide choice when it comes to what you want. A speed freak would get one with a short track which only has a 121 inch track while the hillclimbers/powder riders use a track that has up to a 151" track.

Fan cooled. Killer mileage. Much less weight.

Not necessarily, the most recent liquid cooled Ski-Doo's have the SDI Injection which is very good on gas. They're supposed to go with the E-Tec like on the Evenrude Outboards starting this year. Direct injected fuel, all computerized. Then again, you can't be the basics of a fan cooled. Might be better on gas, but you can't beat the power of a liquid.

It's still heavier!

It is snowing like a sob in Sterling today. I think we got 3 inches or so. And I have to drive to Anch at 5:00 am. Nice. And a snow advisory from 9:00 pm tomight to 10:00 am tomorrow for Anchorage.

Any snowmachine is heavy when you get them stuck. They all weigh about the same in deep powder no matter what you get.

canadian1 is an unknown quantity at this point
So, what's it like being engaged to your daughter? I've read the happy love story, and was shocked to hear she is only 18 yrs. old vs. your 45 yr. old self. Seriously, I hope that it will work out for you, but , c'mon! You likely have children older than she is. She can never be as mature as your 45 year old self. You better think strong, and you better think smart. You are in for a whole lot of heart ache Rance. This young girl might fulfill your emptyness, but she can never fulfill your age and what you would want, she's far too imature. But, that my friend, you have to deal with now. I hope you haven't gotton too far into it. Remember, once married, she will get half of what you own. If you're ready to lay yourself down for that, I think you can do better. Hang in there, there are many fishes in the sea that will suit you better. My advise, do not marry this teenager. I have teenage sons older than she is, with very good shoulders and smarts that wouldn't for a second think about marriage after meeting someone for the 2nd time. Maybe your situation is differant, but, man, don't get yourself into something that you will regret. I'm sorry if you think i sound like a *****, but it is the truth, and nothing but the truth. Be careful.
