Bob Hope had a good one for that though, he rhetorically asked if you think sex is nasty? (Sort of like if the weather is nasty, eh?) He looked away whistfully, and then he looked right at the camera and said, "It is if you're doing it right!"

Weather is just so much like sex...

It is the winds of Wyoming that became intolerable, especially in the Casper area. Makes being outdoors a challenge, summer or winter. I haven't moved quite as often as you, Hobbit, but close. If you are interested in geology, this is the place for it. I will always love Wyoming, the history and landscape there, but it is Alaska where I finally feel 'home'. Do come and visit...you'll see

It was windy when I went across it. I got so lost in Casper! Drove up from Rawlins on my way to Montana. Took a while to figure out how to get out of there. I'll pay more attention next time I ever drive through it.

Just remember, Warpt, for the next time...2nd street and CY Avenues are the main thoroughfares. Once on those you'll be fine. Also Wyoming Blvd will take you around Casper, under the mountain. You can access the Interstate via this without losing your way amongst the busiest portions of the town.

We aren't sure why POW but we just feel sorta 'Led' there. I have some aquaintances that have some property in S. Thorne Bay area (not that that's necessarily where we will end up) but I've thought that it might be nice to be moving into an area with a depressed economic community if just for the fact that real estate tends to be cheaper. I have a friend here in Sundance that has been going to Ketchikan for decades for fishing vacations and ended up buying a boat and guiding for the last couple years for an outfitter there. I got a lot of my initial info from him. I've been in Wyoming for most of the last 20 years. My folks are in Cody and my wife's in Casper, but none of us are real close. We just need a new life-a chance to slow down and hopefully find a new community 'family'.

I haven't looked at real estate prices for awhile, though either myself or Captain Crunch could recommend a good realtor.

Work... I don't know about that. You're right that it's a depressed area.

Thorne Bay is pretty nice.

I live on POW; though just part time anymore. I don't have much reason to stay through the winters after fishing season.

If you have responsible teenagers, we do hire some for summer help--I won't put it on the board though--if you end up going there let me know.

Watched "Into the Wild" last night again & saw an episode of "Made" on MTV, a girlie girl who spent 3 weeks roughing it in Alaska. Makes me wanna come up there, the urge to visit is getting stronger again.

Thanks for the info Met, The real worry I have is work, I've been out of once or twice, (EVER) and not for very long, but it is our #1 priority. I've got a lot of work experience but mostly have been driving truck for the last 14 years and am sick of it.

What kind of work would you have for a teenager? My son is almost 16 and one of the best kids in Sundance (and I'm not just saying that because I'm his dad!)

Oh, and I can filet salmon, but I'm getting a little rusty-the fishing sucks in this corner of Wyoming and I only get practice on little crappie and bass.
