It wasn't so bad. I was making crème brûlée and I momentarily stopped paying attention to the cream so I could separate the egg yolks. Next thing I knew I turned around and it was like hiroshima on the stovetop!!!

I had something similar happen a few years ago. I was in the kitchen making a ham sandwich. I wanted mustard so I took the new squeeze bottle & aimed it at the ham & squeezed. Nothing came out. So I squeezed harder, again nothing. Finally I took the plastic container & squeezed it as hard as I could. The top flew off & mustard exploded all over the kitchen! I tried to clean it up but my wife found mustard on the tops of the kitchen cabinets.

Do you have a little butane torch to caramelize the sugar?

You bet! Crème brûlée is my specialty, along with "North Douglas Chocolate Cake" (local favorite) and chocolate dipped coconut cookies.
