If you are willing to actually work, I think you will be able to find a job and be able to live pretty much anywhere in AK. It's the bums that just want a hand out that don't make it. If you're a good worker (laborer), you should be able to find a job and place to live just fine. Perhaps you should try looking for a job on the slope?

move to Barrow and you will have a slope job in less than a new york second and that is damn fast.. they have 300 postings up here available right at this very minute. All over that slope !!!

I see them posted all over this town. and on the tv

I was there.

I got a job making 12 an hour doing dishes. Decided that was enough. No rotation, was an outsider, never felt welcome in the town. Was shifted to Nuiqsut and was even worse. I was lucky to leave.

By "decent" slope job, rotating schedule, higher pay, housing and food included during work, and transported to Anchorage, or Fairbanks free. That's the ideal slope job.

Then transportation to Nome would be easy from there, with money to your name.

Lots of guys camp out in tents on the east beach in Nome during the summer. Take showers over at the rec. center. Jobs should be plentiful this summer. Housing though will probably be tight but can be found if your patient...
