Actually, it says both. The constitution says that government shall make no law regarding religion- whether to persecute it or to establish it as the basis from which laws are created.

A lot of people have the idea that Alaska is a neo-con haven. It ain't so.

Anti-Gun
Nope. Liberals often call for reform on the process through which one acquires guns, and why not? We're talking about devices that are designed to kill things. Doesn't it make sense that there should at least be some requirements for getting one?
Big Goverment
I prefer the term "responsible government". Liberals believe that our government has the obligation to help take care of those of us who are in a position that we cannot do it ourselves.
High Taxes
Hah.
Anti-Business
Not at all. We simply believe that our government should not be run by business.
Pro-Abortion
Can we at least try to be PC here? It's "pro-choice". My views on this are complicated... While I would never, ever, get an abortion and I do believe that we should take responsibility for our actions, that is just me. I believe that abortions (with the exceptions of the really late ones) should absolutely be legal, because last I checked we are supposed live in a free country, not one where part of the country's ethics are imposed upon another.
Pro-Illegal Immigrant
Yep, we stand there at the boarder and offer them little American flags when they emerge from under the fence. Liberals simply realize that whether we like it or not, illegal immigrants are here en force and they do much of the work that fully fledged Americans would rather not. More personally, I think people sometimes need a reminder that the declaration of Independence says "All men are created equal". It doesn't say "All Americans are created equal" or "All men are created equal" with footnote "Offer invalid outside the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico." Despite the fact that they happened to be born outside the US, these people are not in anyway less deserving of a chance for a better life.
Anti-School Choice
I don't even know what that means. Whatever.
Weak on Natioonal Defense
Nooo... We support national defense, we do not support the sending of thousands of our people to death in an oil conquest thinly veiled as a justified war. There is a difference.
Anti-Religion
Wrong again. Liberalism has no problem with religion, we just don't believe that religion has a place in government. I believe that bit was in the constitution...
Boardering on Socialism
Yep, and proud of it!

There 'ya have it...
Thanks for the good laugh.

You're very welcome. It's good that we are both able to laugh at the political biases of each other.
However, should you wish to continue this off topic discussion, it would be best to take it to the chat thread.
G'dday-

Keep in mind I don't think anyone here wants folks moving in and trying to force their political beliefs on them. Part of why I get along so well with my neighbors. I don't judge any of them on their political or religious beliefs nor do they of me. We can all leave the house Sunday morning and wave at each other, turn 4 or 5 different directions and attend our church...and all wave to each other as we return to our homes from those churches. The last thing I want is some fanatical neighbor trying to shove his beliefs down my throat or turning every conversation into a political rant. Your looking at the wrong place to even be considering that sort of behavior. Might be the way they do things "down there"...but it ain't gonna fly here.

Yes, Rance, because obviously you speak for ALL Alaskans. Merely discussing something is not a rant. Unless you disagree with it of course. See you at the lake next summer. Maybe we can talk politcs . . . or religion.

Default Relax...

I speak for no one but myself. As a matter of fact my church is out at the lake. And I surely would not mind meeting you out there for a beer and even a tour. But the minute you start asking me about politics or religion...I'd have to drop you off at the boat launch! End of tour!

If'n there are such folks as those that can sit and talk religion or politics...I don't know any of them. I'm not trying to be snotty or speak for anyone. You may even find someone on this board who likes that kind of thing. Might be why I spend most of my free time out on the lake or in the woods. I'm not much into idle chat and associate with those that are kind of the same. If I do sit and talk for an hour it's usually at the local bar with one of the oldtimers that homesteaded in the area. I can never get tired of the stories they tell. And you'd be surprised at what buying one of those guys a beer will get you in true life adventure stories.
Just trying to be neighborly!
