The show is completely fake. Here's an article about the family:

Is Alaskan Bush People fake? Plus, felony charges filed against the Browns with trial set for January

The only show based in Alaska that I watch from time to time is Alaska State Troopers. I primarily watch the show for the background shots. Alaska is gorgeous!

I was so sad to see they canceled the AST show. I know the Kitchers aren't really off the grid but the Alaska-The Last Frontier is the next show that I like to watch just to get some scenery of AK.

What about the Railroad Alaska? I realize the tracks being fixed and there's always a train coming in 20 minutes is overdramatic/fake, etc... But are all the off grid people real? I like watching Building Alaska and some other short hunting show where a a group of master guides take people on brown bear hunts. The guide was maybe on a season of Building Alaska?

Hardly any of the shows are real, and you can expect them to start going away now that they're no longer funded by state tax credits.

I know a few people that are in shows about Alaska and feedback from them is pretty much hands-down that by the time the editing room is done with the film there is very little left from which you might get a "real" idea of what was going on to begin with.

It might "happen" in Alaska, but it's "edited" aka "spun" for Hollywood.

I get you. The producers "fix" situations so it appears there's a strong degree of danger. The dramatic music helps, too. I would say that show is 60% real and the rest is staged. I still like the show and I admire all the railroad workers on the show. They have an awesome job in one of the most stunning places on earth. Those trains are so invaluable for those economies and for the people that rely on them.

Also, how about Ice Road Truckers? Ever notice when a truck skids off the the ice road and goes into a ditch there happens to be a camera on the road that caught the mishap at that very location?

I've noticed this about all sorts of shows. I ditched cable years ago and basically don't watch much of anything these days, due to those types of "a-ha!" moments in my brain.

There are all kinds of cool communities in Alaska, but I doubt any of them make it onto TV. One that comes to mind here on the peninsula is Ionia (Ionia | Where Common Sense Comes Alive). I'd also love to go down and check out some of the Russian communities (Kachemak Selo, Voznesenka, Nikolaevsk, Razdolna), but I really don't want to just show up without a friend who's a local. Same goes for Tyonek across the Inlet.

Just wondering if anyone can relate to the show, maybe have done the same things that the Brown family does. If you watch the show do you think that they are way off base or could it be considered reality by some that you may know?
It's fake. watch instead
