Default Wasilla-the lowdown

I'm asking any of you folks who either currently live in Wasilla or have done so recently what kind of town it is. The wife and I are making preparations to most likely move there and if any of you have any good photos of what the scenery is from there and any commentary on the lifestyle, it would be greatly appreciated.

Don't let the fact that San Jose is our current home fool you, we're both PA natives and cold weather isn't exactly anything new. However, any input regarding the towns amenities, resident's attitudes, employment situation, etc..etc...would be greatly appreciated.

Hatcher Pass

Pioneer Peak

Cottonwood Lake...or is it Finger Lake?

Rifle Range

Potato Field ...in Palmer, Wasilla's sister city.
Gorilla's Fireworks

Start of the Iditarod...on Knik Lake

All these photos are my daughters from her bearsign.com website. Your post reminds me that I need to take some more photos of the town itself

Wow, thank you! I truly appreciate it!

On another note, I'm a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan and I ran across a listing for the Tailgater's Sports Bar & Grill. Any news on that? I will get DirecTV for the NFL Sunday Ticket if I have to but a buddy of mine who lives in Anchorage said that satellite TV doesn't work too well up there.

WOW! I just went to your daughter's website and checked out the pics. It made my spine tingle looking at them. I truly, truly thank you for that information. This is a pic from the driveway of our home in PA that we left last summer. As beautiful as our land was, Alaska is truly amazing!

Nice photos, one of them reminds me of the old adage here in N. Carolina, it goes "a streetsign without bullet holes is like a breakfast without grits, it just ain't southern!"

Well there are lots of Sattelite dishes in Fairbanks, maybe your buddy is behind a mountain?

Check out Alaska Wireless, Alaska Communication Systems, Alaska Internet I think they are a direct TV distributor.

Lol, maybe. I wouldn't mind getting a job with GCI considering that I work for Comcast now. With Comcast, as an employee, you get your cable, Internet, and phone for free. If GCI does the same thing, then, that's why I asked about that sports bar.

I've been biting my tongue for months but with our stock plummeting, my competitive nature will eventually overrule business etiquette and I will call my sales manager to the carpet. Not that it's his fault, but that's the only way to get a message up to the corporate jackasses who have no idea what's going on at the street level.

Lovely photos, Marty. Your daughter sure has some talent. Do I have your permission to swipe the one of the hospital? The Prince of Wales was born there.
