As long as they mind their own business, and leave me to mine, I think they're great. If they start to tell me or my neighbors how we should not feed ourselves from nature's bounty, I'll tell them to take a hike. If they are Democrats, Republicans, Christians, Muslims, Asian, black, straight or gay, their lifestyles and choices are theirs and not mine. I'll let them alone and they can let me go to hell in my own handbasket. Most folks here are the same about their privacy and their own choices. I hate proselytizers.

My religion and my lifestyle, my politics and my outlook are mine. I refuse to tell anyone else that their's is wrong..... unless they start getting on mine.

Everyone on this forum knows what and who I am. But I won't tell anyone that they are out and out wrong unless the facts (not opinions) prove them otherwise. In which case, I might (and emphasize, MIGHT) tell them the error of their ways. And only in the gentlest of terms. Religion is largely a matter of opinion, as are politics.

Live and let live, says I. And I think it applies to both sides of the neighbors fence. Most of my friends and neighbors feel the same way, as far as I can tell.

What gets to some people is those who move up and then start bitching about how things are done differently where they came from.

During the last logging boom in SE, we had an influx of new residents who made it rather clear they hated the place and were only there for "money". That created a lot of tension in the community.

But if you sincerely want to make a life there, you won't have many problems.
