The coolest! Incidentally, you're missing an absolutely awesome (albeit cold) beautiful day. I am too, because I'm stuck inside doing calculus.

I can't wait to get there to go thru the newspaper to find a job.
I will need to have one lined up before I go.
I will see if they have a newspaper on line

I have not heard of Ketchikan, I will do a search and check it out.
Thanks for the tips

As a first trip to get to know 'The Big Land' go to the SE for the summer?

Stuck in Ketch?, 400 miles and 700$ roundtrip to Denali?

Whats left of the real alaska will be found in the interior.
What do you mean about getting to know the Big Land, and what is left of Alalska is in the interior?
I take it not built up in the interior.
What town in the SE would you reccomend?

Fairbanks paper is the Newsminer newsminer.com • Fairbanks, Alaska
Fred Meyers, Wal-mart seem to always be hiring. If you come early enough you could get work with the visitor industry.

Working in Denali park area could be lots of fun especially if you feel or are younger.

Although I always have a soft spot in my heart for Juneau, I'm going to say Ketchikan here, too. I believe they have the most seasonal jobs if you time it right.
But, if you're not sure how you feel about living in a tiny little town (9,000 ppl) in the middle of nowhere, you could try Juneau. We're a "slightly larger (30,000 ppl) town in the middle of nowhere"!

There are always the fish canneries for summer jobs, too. But I'd rather be in Denali than in fish slime any day, but that's just my personal bias. My husband did the canneries for a summer in his younger days & thought it was a blast.

Those are funny...
But there's nothing more amusing to us than an outsider using too many of those words in an attempt to pass as a local...
