Just a Nikkon Coolpix L10, little point and shoot model. I was saving my money to buy a Rebel, but then I spent it on a ferry ticket instead.

If you are planning on a flight seeing trip in southeast during the cruise season, make sure you ask the local carrier if they are a part of the Medallion Foundation. This is a program that makes it safer to fly in Alaska. There was a number of deaths in Southeast this past summer. I don't know if they were a part of this program, but it always is a good idea to see if they are enrolled. I know the chances of crashing are slim, but you can never know. You can see all the carriers in Alaska at Medallion Foundation, Inc. .

Pack along a folding bike for the trip. I'm sure you're going to have a huge suitcase, might as well buy one of these. Folding Bikes by Citizen Bike

If I wanted to spend a day "doing Juneau", this is what I would do:
6A- disembark boat, walk to Silverbow Bakery for breakfast
8A- Hike mount Roberts
11A-order take out lunch at "Timberline Grill" (about 3/4 of the way to the top) then continue up mountain. Picnic at summit.
2P- take tram down mountain.
2:30P- Walk to the better shops (the ones I listed earlier). Stop at AK Fudge Company for snack along the way.
4P - Get on a bus bound for the Mendenhall glacier
6P- Return downtown. Dinner at Pizzeria Roma in the merchant wharf, dessert at Chilkat Cones (ice cream parlor where they make their own waffle cones fresh)
8-9P board boat

Keep in mind that it's going to be light the entire time you're here, though it may be a little gray depending on the usually drizzly weather.
