I am slotted to go on assignment to the Kenai soon. I have been to Alaska before on vacation. Doing the dead of winter assignment as a trial to see if I can handle it before I make a permanent move (something I have been wanting to do for years). Would like to get in contact with any RN's who have been on assignment in the past few years, esp in the Kenai. Thanks yall.

The Kenai is just a little south of Alaska.

My wife has taken a few travel nurse jobs in Alaska over the past few years. One in Homer and one in Palmer/Wasilla. I'm sure you know this but, the pay is pretty decent, you can choose their housing or recieve a housing stipend (which you can sometimes come out way ahead by taking) and it's a great way for RN's to test out Alaska with only a 3 month commitment. Anyways, good luck with your assignment.

I have never heard that the Kenai Peninsula was not the real Alaska, only Anchorage.

I'm not a travel nurse, but I am a travel occupational therapy assistant living in Kenai. The area is truly beautiful, but depends on where you're coming from and what you're used to. If you're an outdoor person, then I absolutely recommend it.
