I will be having a new 3000 sq ft home built in Homer AK next year. The builder typically recommends framing with 2x6 walls with studs at 24 OC. Then a blown-in fiberglass insulation, R-22 in the walls and R-50 in the ceiling, with vapor barrier on both. Then spray-foam the rimband.

natural gas. radiant floor heating.

We plan on living there at least 5 years.

Any thoughts on this being a good approach?

Thanks

I'd go with what the builder recommends. Just curious who the builder is?

I think that's pretty standard. That's what they did for our home here in Wasilla.

I don't like blown in insulation for vertical walls as the insulation tends to settle and leave a gap at the top. Also I would do 16" OC for the walls
