Oh great, thanks for the advice. he's my lost soul.and getting over a break up from a long term girl friend and looking for some adventure. Alaska has always been his dream. Im trying to help him. hopefully something will come up. Tommy really is a great guy and hard working.. we will keep searching Thanks alot Tanya

Well, I'd be happy to DM you some information about work in Alaska. There is plenty of opportunity for him if he wants a seasonal job. I'm just saying that fishing, for a newcomer, isn't going to pay well and could be dangerous and there are better things out there for him.

Thank you, thank you from one mom to another. Iv'e been reading the other threads. pretty scary stuff!! I will tell Tommy and we will check out the info. you sent. I also read someone sent something about the Peak oil field services may be hirig at Valdez. do you know anything about that?

I don't, but I think that Rance might...or I know someone mentioned that here recently but I can't recall who. But on the state of Alaska employment link I sent you, check out the jobs in the North Slope Borough. I noticed there were a few posted the other day.

Ok I'll look into them tomarrow. bed time. I drive a school bus. and have to leave at 5:00am. to start work to pick up these sweet little darlings...( HAHA) Thanks alot for your help. maybe Tommy will be up soon. I hear the weather now is pretty cold and wet. Im in orange co. ca. today 79 degrees. and beautiful. I can't wait to see Alaska!! COULD be dangerous? The one and only time I refused to let my son go on a particular boat [he was 15] it was because HE would have been the only deckhand with experience! Took him quite awhile to get over being mad at me, he really wanted to go to the Bering. I told him any skipper stupid enough to take a green crew with one experienced hand was too stupid to survive. I think the only reason he did get over it was because some of the other fishermen told him the same thing.
