Hi all happy new year.
I have been seriously wanting to make the move from the uk to Alaska to start actually living for myself off the land as the outdoors is where I feel alive and at home. Enough about me.
Any advice that people could give me to make the initial move myself to set up a small homestead for my family to move to.
I don't know about immigration laws etc or if anyone knows of a way to live/work towards citizenship.
I'm prepared to work my n..s off to do this for my partner and children as they can't stop talking about Alaska.
Please please help needed.

Wow. So many people from the UK recently wanting to move to Alaska.

Attaining permanent resident status in the U.S. is hard. You need to speak with an immigration attorney.

You should also consider Canada; that might be a more realistic option for you. Best of luck.

Thank you for the advice. I think Alaska appeals sooo much to me is its untouched beauty and also the way the residents show their comunity spirit to help each other the way it should be not like over in the uk anymore. I had thought about Canada but I've fell in love with all that is Alaska. Thanks again.

Well, good luck, because you'll really need it if you want to relocate permanently to the U.S. You'll need to start with an immigration lawyer -- no one on this forum can help you move, unfortunately.

I'm curious... Have you ever visited Alaska? Where did you witness this "community spirit"?

If it is easier to move to Canada, you'll do just as well there. The Yukon is pretty much Alaska, except the roads are better.

I'm also from uk and would love to live in Alaska. I know this is no easy task. I'm willing myself do whatever it takes to get there and live a substence living. We have so many laws in the UK that stops us living that life style(the way we are supposed to live maybe we could contact one another to help each other get there cheers
