Yeah I was going to say, "What, because the government's doing such a great job with what they've already got??" but I was trying to be nice to the new person. So much for that, lol.

Believe me when I say that government healthcare is not the best. My fellow veterans can attest to that (I am one of them folks) And you just won't believe the red tape you have to go through, and the amount of waiting time.

Amen to that, brother. I have veterans in my life who I love very much, and watching the hell they have had to endure with the VA has broken my heart. Not only the wait times, but for people who don't live in major metropolitan areas the distance they have to travel in order to receive care is absurd. It is shameful the way we treat our veterans. Truly shameful.

Thank you for your service, Ray.

Man, I am really sorry to hear that happened to you. It is not, however, the first time I have heard someone left Alaska because of healthcare issues.
All I did was slip and fall on an icy sidewalk. I was a desk jockey at the time. Nothing high risk. The insurance company cut several others about the same time. Pretty much anyone that filed a claim for anything more than a case of the sniffles was given the boot. Then soon after that our employer changed insurance companies and all of us that had been cut and was without insurance was deemed high risk and denied coverage by the new insurance company.

I am relatively young and just have very basic high deductible insurance coverage and it is only $50 a month for my wife and I. Not bad, but I also don't go to the doctor on a regular basis at this point in my life.

I am also getting medevac insurance soon just in case.

We can all thank Obama and his crew for this. Change you can believe in. What a crock.

That is a really good idea. Something that if we roam far and wide in the state this year I will probably get, just in case. I have decent medical insurance, but not sure how they are going to react to a $50k or so medevac bill.
