Most everyone will, as soon as the government extricates itself from it current masters.

When what we strive to do becomes other than protecting the infrastructure and profits of the multinationals that currently control research and policy, we will develop alternatives.

Right now, there's not enough research and development of alternatives,

....that can change.

It's all a matter of displacing those whose interests are only in furthering their own interest to the detriment of others, it won't happen overnight, but their days are numbered....

Hey, isn't SE AK supposed to be warmer?!? What's up with all this zero degrees and thirty gusting to fiifty?

I want my "banana belt" back!

Default C'mon global warming, whats taking so long?

Where can I get one of those bumper stickers with the "Alaskans for global warming"? Think of it, weather-wise we'll be the new Seattle, maybe even San Diego!

Of course the folks down around the equator might not be so thrilled about it, but personally I'm ready for a bit more sunshine.

Global climate change is impacting Alaska.

In Alaska, reported adverse impacts resulting from
global warming include:

Increased coastal erosion and displacement of coastal communities;

Melting of arctic tundra and taiga resulting in the damage of Alaska’s infrastructure;

Warmer summers resulting in insect infestations, more frequent and larger forest
fires, and the alteration of Alaska’s boreal forests;

Decrease in arctic ice cover resulting in loss of habitat and prey species for marine
mammals;

Changes in terrestrial and oceanic species abundance and diversity resulting in the
disruption of the subsistence way of life, among other adverse impacts.

I'd imagine the more ice that melts worldwide...then less harmfull rays of the sun will be reflected. Thus resulting in an ever increasing rate of melting and an increase in the warming of the planet. It's just going to go faster and faster. Most likely we won't need down jackets until after the big bang.

I think it's pretty amusing,

....before the recent high that parked itself over the state, all kinds of folks were talking about how they take subzero weather in stride, and that it didn't register as far as restricting their outdoor activity.

Then when it happened, everyone is moaning and wishing it weren't so.

It's too cold, they collectively sighed.

Now, when it warms a bit, I suppose all the tough talk will start finding it's way back into the narrative....

It's of a piece with human nature, isn't it. I am a rough, tough AK guy, and boasting about the cold we live in or crabbing about a cold snap is what makes me a guy (sort of). When we crab about it, its a backhanded boast in a way.

No one ever accused the average human of being necessarily logical. Emotional inconsistencies are more common in my dealings with people than not. Might only be the people I deal with, but I have lived where people boasted of the heat and complained when their air cons broke down.
