Default down jackets

If you're looking for a down jacket on sale, check out the Eddie Baur website. I just got one of their waterproof down parkas that's regularly about $250 for about 99 bucks!

It's heavier than I expected but built like a tank and almost TOO warm, even though the wind-chill's been in the negative 30 range around here lately.

Hey, isn't SE AK supposed to be warmer?!? What's up with all this zero degrees and thirty gusting to fiifty?

I want my "banana belt" back!

Bah, we swear against down jackets. They get wet, and they stay wet.

Rotorhead, I imagine your house is getting hammered pretty well by all the wind and snow.

canadian1 is an unknown quantity at this point
Down jackets are good in dry weather, and extreme cold. When I was young, I had a long length down jacket and never felt cold in the extreme minus temps here in Canada.

Snow machining was differant tho, we wore snow mobile suits, helmets, and good gloves or mittens to race across the frozen waters of the lakes and trails of Ontario.

There is nothing like natural fur to keep one toasty warm!

I have a down coat, but its reserved for -45 and colder. Other wise its a Carhart jacket and polar fleese sweater till then.
