I reserved a room in Anchorage (with one of the major chains, but through their local hotel) and the clerk offered to give me the Alaska resident rate (even though I'm not a resident). It's a lot lower, so I took it; now I'm wondering, how likely is it that I'll be denied that rate once they see my ID? I know they check, but the person I made the reservation with said she'd put a note in the system, that she knew who was working the shift that I'd be checking in, and that even though I'd have to show my ID, I'd still get that rate.

Didn't mean to ask for a rate I'm not supposed to get; the desk clerk offered it.

Does anyone else have any experience with this?

I used to work at a hotel and we'd offer rates for people even if they didn't qualify for it.
The resident rate is normally 10% off and a DL is required normally if they ask for it.

Default Thanks for your quick reply

Sounds like it'll be OK; that I'll get that rate.

I'm just concerned that if I don't when I check in, that I'll have to pay some kind of last minute rate.

If they have rooms, "last minute" rate might be to your advantage. $20 covers the maid and the laundry...

Just sayin...
