I was reading something about tourists cornering bears at a town dump to take their pictures & wondering how they didn't wind up being eaten themselves.

You mean like that lady tourist who climbed into the polar bear enclosure at the Anchorage zoo, and got her foot chomped? Said later, she just didn't know what came over her. Terminal stupidity would be a good description; who it their right mind would deliberately climb into a pen with a polar bear just to get some pictures? There are times I wonder if people either can't read, or for some inane reason, think that warning sign doesn't apply to them.

The lady got her foot chomped through the bars. She was inside the outer fence. The younger dude jumped into the pool, and got his nether region removed in one large mouthfull.

It isn't just tourists....look at that idiot featured in the adn a while back who lets bears into his house, feeds them dog food, thinks he's "domesticating" them or that they "understand" him and they've formed some sort of "bond."

If people would leave Romeo alone instead of thinking it's "special" that he doesn't find their presence threatning, then maybe there would be less problems.

If all these Timothy Treadwell wanna bees would let well enough alone, maybe there would be less of this nonsense.

Bear cubs are cute but they're wild....hello...and just see what happens to you if you try to hug one!

It should be no different with Romeo

Or any other animal...

Pet and hold and play with the animals you get at the store or animal shelter...

Leave the rest alone!!

I dunno about the guy, it sounds like he got what he was looking for, which must have been attention. Too bad it was from the bear. Even so, that was still what the lady tourist said, and she was still within range of the teeth. Go figure.
