Blue Fin Tuna can grow to over 1000 lbs, the great tuna are caught more in winter, the gulf stream stays about 70 degrees year round, ergo, the great tuna winter out here.

So, (gotta say so, that way one isn't accused of being off topic, eh?)

So, they have tuna on the 'other' coast too.... Quite an industry attached also.

I like to make kippered tuna........

Sad to know the state of the biomass, but I'd still like to tuna fish again....

I fished tuna commercially, but not like those guys in the picture, we were trolling....

....you know the expression, 'too much fun'? It was like that.....

Wow!, nice shots there Boma, thanks. Beautiful setting for a town as well, it does give the appearance of "peaceful". If I may ask, What are some of your native foods? What is your climate like?

Yeah, last time out we hooked into a school of 40 to 80 pounders, Blue Fin and Yellow Fin, rod and reel fishing, What a Blast! (uh, figuratively speaking of course) we sold the part of the catch we didn't have room for. The trip paid for itself and showed a profit, doesn't happen that way often, but is nice when it does. We were six very happy and extremely tired fishers when we got back to dock, I suspect you know the feeling, after so many fish, your arms turn to jello, the other side effect is the perma-grin. (well,.....semi-perma-grin, it does wear off in a day or so.)

Default Oh my goodness, boma!!

Thank you for posting those pics. That looks like lovely place to live. You haven't been effected by the wars, have you? I admit I am not up on current geography. Do you live in what was once Chzeckolsavakia? Sorry about my spelling. I have been watching this place because I think Alaskans are such hardy people and am glad to make your acquaintance from another part of the world!

rance and Sweden...you go people!!!! I am so happy for you even though you don't know me!!! Congratulations!!!!!
